Constructive critisism Posted on Thu, December 01, 2011 21:55:32

got a call today……. help! hot water failed! ………. hotel full of guests…….heeeeellllllllpppppp!

no problem thinks I…….. I know the boiler, it has a FSI (full surface ignitor)……. common fault…….. fitted 3 to this boiler already……. prepared them last time by explaining how hard they are to get these days……. so always pre order……… have one in the office ready………..

I arrived and confidently requested the part and was handed a box……..

lovely job…..

tootled into boiler room and stripped the boiler……

reached up for the box and froze……… uh oh

ENOUGH SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sometimes its the simplest things….

My services Posted on Thu, December 01, 2011 21:41:51

I arrived to service a boiler …… As always I asked ‘hows it been behaving?’……… the response was somewhat negative……. the impression i got was it was a little cold……….

the boiler seemed to run fine, and all checked out………. gas rate ok, co/co2 ok, flow good, temperatures good, ………….. no funny noises……..

i checked the rads and flow was good and all were heating well……

I followed up my ‘behaving?’ question with a few more – what / when /how……… but the consensus seemed to be ‘cold all the bloody time’………..

hmmmmmmmmm

clicked the room stat up and down a few times while considering the situation………….

and looked down……..

look closely

errrrrrrrr…………. thats not a room stat! its a frost stat! temperature range -15 degrees C to +10 degrees C…………….

that will be the problem then!

However, its been in 5 years ! and serviced every year! how did no one notice? and who was the retard engineer who thought a frost stat would be ok as a room stat?
